During his visit of Slovenia in 2014 Chinese Vice President Wang Yang ranked the extension of the intercultural exchanges at the priorities of the two countries. After successful talks with Slovenian representatives at the China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum (May 2016, Beijing), 35 of the most prominent cultural managers together with a representative of the Chinese Ministry of Culture of Guan Xin is going to visit Slovenia in June.
The visit represents an opportunity for Slovenia to deepen its existing and establish new relations with China. Guan Xin will be accompanied by renowned cultural figures, among which are both academics and directors of the most prominent cultural institutions as well as cultural managers and presidents of the Chinese professional associations.
Initiative to increase exports of Slovenian culture to China is this time on the Chinese side. Due to several personnel changes and financial difficulties of Slovenian Ministry of Culture visit is organized directly between representatives of Chinese delegation and Slovenian culture professionals. Nevertheless the visit confirms the hopes of Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar expressed in an interview with Chines Vice President Wang Yang as China recognized attractivenes of Slovenian culture products and services for the Chinese market.
Three-day visit of the Chinese delegation will be primarily dedicated to meetings with Slovenian culture representatives and to visiting the cultural events. In addition they will also visit little dragons in the Postojna cave, and met with the Postojna’s Mayor Igor Marentič.
